2. General Information on Data Processing

The protection of your personal data is very important to us. DuoLivo processes personal data exclusively in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) as well as – where applicable – the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

We collect and use your data only to the extent necessary for the provision and improvement of our services.

3. What Data We Process

A) During Registration and Use

Name, email address, password
Payment data (e.g., via Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay – processed directly by the respective payment service provider)
Profile data (age, gender, photos, personal details)
Communication content (messages, images, voice messages, video calls)

b) Automatically Collected Data

IP address and device information
Log data on access and actions (e.g., login time, first profile activity → important for proof of right of withdrawal)
Cookies (see below)

4. Purposes of Processing

We process personal data for the following purposes, in particular:

Provision and improvement of the platform
Contract fulfillment (processing of subscriptions, payments, customer support)
Security and abuse prevention (detection of fake profiles, scamming, illegal content)
Statistical analyses for the improvement of our services

5. Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC (USA).

Google Analytics uses cookies that enable an analysis of the use of our platform. The information generated about your use is usually transmitted to a Google server in the USA and stored there.

On DuoLivo, we have activated IP anonymization, so your IP address is truncated before transmission.

The purpose of processing is the analysis of user behavior to continuously improve our platform.

You can prevent the storage of cookies by adjusting your browser software settings or object via our cookie banner (opt-out).

6. Disclosure to Third Parties

Your data will only be disclosed if this is necessary for contract fulfillment (e.g., payment processing), if legal obligations exist, or if you have expressly consented.

Recipients may include, in particular:

Payment service providers (Stripe, Apple, Google)
Hosting and cloud service providers (e.g., AWS)
Analytics and tracking providers (Google, see above)

7. Data Transfer to Third Countries

Data will only be transferred to third countries (especially the USA) if an adequate level of data protection exists or appropriate safeguards (e.g., EU standard contractual clauses) have been concluded.

8. Storage Duration

We store personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the respective purpose. After account deletion, profile data is generally removed within 30 days, unless legal retention obligations prevent this.

9. User Rights

According to FADP and GDPR, you have the following rights:

Right of access
Right to rectification
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”)
Right to restriction of processing
Right to data portability
Right to object (especially against direct marketing and analytics tools)

10. Data Security

We implement technical and organizational measures to protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, or disclosure. These include, among others, encrypted data transmission (SSL/TLS) and access restrictions.

11. Children and Minors

DuoLivo is exclusively intended for adults (18+). We do not process personal data of children. If we become aware that an account is being used by a minor, we will immediately block or delete the account and the associated data, unless legal retention obligations prevent this. Reports of child endangerment (CSAE) can be submitted via the report button available in the app or by email to support@duolivo.com. 12. Changes to the Privacy Policy

DuoLivo reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time. The current version is always available on our website and in the apps.
