– A content partnership, a multi-part series, and a first article that is already online –
When we launched DuoLivo, one thing was especially important to us: start quietly, listen carefully, and build step by step a platform that people can truly trust. Part of that means contributing to conversations about aging. Since this summer, we have been doing that not only in our own magazine—but in our own series: “New Encounters in Later Life.”

A partner who looks closely
The Association of Zurich Seniors (ZSS) has been committed to older people in the Canton of Zurich since 1985: non-profit, politically independent, and non-denominational. As an umbrella organization of 24 senior organizations, it reaches around 10,000 households and over 15,000 seniors through its online platform and the magazine “Wir Senior:innen.” For this readership, we write our own series as a content partner: “New Encounters in Later Life.”
Part 1 has been published
The first article, “Why New Encounters Remain Important in Later Life,” appeared in Issue No. 2 | 2026. It highlights a distinction that is often overlooked: Being alone is not the same as loneliness. According to Pro Senectute, around one in four people over 55 in Switzerland feels lonely—approximately 444,500 people. What matters is not the number of contacts, but whether they are experienced as close enough. At the same time, the study “Digital Seniors 2025” shows that 89 percent of people over 65 are online. Digital channels do not replace personal closeness. However, they open doors when everyday life offers few spontaneous encounters. We have already described what this means for one’s own well-being here.

Content instead of advertising
These articles are not about DuoLivo. They contain no product advertising; at the end, there is only a brief note about who wrote them. This was important to us: Anyone writing about loneliness should not be selling a subscription on the side.
What comes next
Part 2 has been written and will appear in one of the upcoming issues. It addresses closeness, independence, and new life phases: the tension between connection and self-determination. Further parts will follow. You can find the entire series at the ZSS.
Encounter is not a question of age. It is a question of context.
Two hearts. One path.
Warm regards
Valentin & Alex
