– A review of the first days, figures behind the scenes and a look ahead –

A few weeks ago, I explained here how DuoLivo came into being: born from frustration with an industry that exploits people, and from the desire to build something honest and fair. At that time, much of it was still a vision, a sketch, and a prototype. Today, I am pleased to announce something that long felt like a distant goal: DuoLivo is live.

Since Monday, November 24, 2025, our app has been available on the Apple App Store, the Google Play Store, and in the browser. What previously consisted of notes, whiteboards, countless conversations with friends, acquaintances, and testers. It is now a real place where people can meet.

A quiet, but very special start

We deliberately decided against a loud “Big Bang”. No huge advertising budget, no big promises, no cities plastered with ads – but an honest start, where we look closely, listen and learn.

This “quiet” start was important to us: DuoLivo is aimed at people aged 50+ who are in the middle of their lives, bear responsibility and are tired of big words. What matters to them is whether something feels right. Not how loudly it is advertised.

In the first seven days after the launch, we had 22 registrations. Two of them were obviously bots. These were deleted immediately because we want to make it clear from the start: Only real people should be on DuoLivo. Technically, this is sometimes complex. But for us, it is a matter of respect for all those who are seriously looking for closeness.

The remaining 20 people are exactly the people for whom we developed DuoLivo: on average 59 years old, and the distribution is currently 50/50 between women and men. For us, these are not just numbers, but a clear signal: Our message is getting through. People who want a serious, transparent offer feel addressed by DuoLivo. That’s exactly what we’ve been working so hard for the last few months.

Many of the initial feedback messages came directly via email or through the contact form. Such messages are at least as valuable to us as any download figure.

How the first members use DuoLivo

The look at how DuoLivo is used is also exciting:

  • Around 60% of registered people use iOS
  • About 30% are using Android
  • And 10% use the web version in the browser

This helps us a lot to understand where we need to look particularly carefully technically first. Especially on iOS and Android, we are testing intensively how registration, onboarding and initial contact feel.

The fact that we developed DuoLivo as a cross-platform solution from the start is now proving to be absolutely correct: Some use the app on their smartphone, others prefer to use it comfortably on their laptop or tablet. We want DuoLivo to feel equally clear, calm and trustworthy on all devices.

In the next few weeks, we will evaluate this usage data even more closely to find out where people get stuck. Where they drop out or where they “arrive” particularly quickly.

Three versions in one week

With the launch of Version 1.0 on Monday, it was clear: Now it shows how DuoLivo feels in everyday life – not in the test, but in real life.

And as is the case with every product launch, the first users immediately helped us to discover things that looked good on paper. But were not yet round in practice. Small display errors or formulations that were misleading. Processes that felt more complicated than necessary.

That’s why we released two updates in the first week:

  • Wednesday: Version 1.1
  • Friday: Version 1.2

In these updates we have:

  • fixed various errors that only become visible in “real life”
  • optimized the UI in several places so that DuoLivo becomes even clearer, calmer and easier to use
  • directly incorporated the first feedback from support

For us, this is not a flaw, but part of our attitude. We don’t want to pretend that everything is perfect. Rather show transparently that we are making DuoLivo better step by step. Together with the people who place their trust in us.

Anyone who uses DuoLivo in this phase is, in a sense, part of an “inner circle”. People who are willing to try things out, give feedback and help us turn an idea into a really good product. We really appreciate that.

What’s coming in the next few weeks

What has particularly touched us in the last few days: various media have reacted very positively to the announcement of DuoLivo. Initial discussions have already been held, interviews recorded and articles prepared, which will be published in the coming weeks.

We will of course also make these reports visible on our website and in the magazine. Not to celebrate ourselves, but because they help to build trust. They show why we think about DuoLivo differently than many existing offers.

Today it really starts

With today’s Monday, December 1, 2025, another important step begins: Our advertising campaign starts.

It is designed not to work with blatant promises, but to reach exactly the people who say: “I want closeness – but without subscription traps, without games, without hidden conditions.

We will be present on various channels in the coming weeks. Online, offline and especially where our target group is actually on the move. It is important to us that the campaign speaks the same language as the app: calm, clear, respectful.

We are convinced that many new people will try DuoLivo in the coming days and weeks. They will create profiles and send their first messages. Perhaps encounters will already arise during this Advent season that will have significance far beyond the holidays.

What’s coming next

Even though we have only just started, we are already looking ahead. New functions are already on our roadmap that should make DuoLivo even more personal, secure and clearer.

We are particularly pleased that this next section coincides with the Advent season. For many, this is a time of reflection, sometimes also of loneliness – but also a time of hope.

If DuoLivo contributes to people connecting during this time – then every sleepless night in development has been worth it.

Two hearts and many hours

For us, DuoLivo is more than just a product launch. It is the result of months of intensive work: of evenings when the laptop was open long after midnight. Of weekends when we rebuilt designs, reformulated texts, discarded functions and rethought them. It is the result of discussions, doubts, small setbacks. And again and again the same question: “Would we register ourselves on such a platform?”

We didn’t build DuoLivo to bring “just another dating app” to an already crowded market. We built DuoLivo because we deeply believe that people must also be treated online with respect, clarity and honesty. Especially when it comes to something as personal as closeness, trust and relationships.

To all those who have already registered: Thank you for your trust. You are the first to turn an idea into a living community. Your feedback, your courage to try something new, means an incredible amount to us.

To all those who are still hesitant: You don’t have to rush anything. But maybe it’s worth taking the step, creating a profile. To answer a few questions and see who else is out there and wants the same thing as you.

We are looking forward to everything that will arise in the next few weeks. To stories that we are allowed to tell (anonymized). To encounters that may change a life, and to many honest messages in which people dare to say: “I’m not looking for the perfect – I’m looking for something real.”

Two hearts. One path.

Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Warm regards
Valentin & Alex
