– An honest review, new features and our perspective on what matters now –

When we launched DuoLivo, one thing was particularly important to us: to start calmly, listen carefully and build a platform step by step that people can truly trust. Anyone who has read our previous reviews, from How DuoLivo Came About and Why We Are Rethinking Dating through DuoLivo Has Launched to our review of the first month and the first three months, knows that this very approach has shaped DuoLivo from the beginning. Even after four months, this still feels exactly right.

Because DuoLivo does not thrive on volume or quick promises. DuoLivo thrives on people who register, create an honest profile, write a first message and thereby demonstrate: genuine connections are also possible online when the framework is right. Particularly in a time when so much has become fast, superficial and interchangeable, we are touched by how clearly many people come to DuoLivo: with the desire for a serious partnership, for reliability and for a genuine fresh start.

The Numbers After Four Months

We share these numbers deliberately, because for us they are more than statistics. They show us that DuoLivo is reaching exactly the people for whom we built this platform.

Since launch, over 900 users have registered. 270 of these are currently verified and approved profiles. On average, around 200 users are active per week. The distribution remains at 60% women and 40% men. We find it particularly noteworthy that around 90% of our users are seeking a serious partnership.

The usage itself also shows us that DuoLivo is not just being viewed, but is genuinely being used: in the last 30 days, around 1,200 messages were sent. This pleases us greatly, not because we want growth at any cost, but because every single registration and every first message is a vote of confidence.

Why we prefer to be strict

For us it is clear: DuoLivo should not be a place where one loses time, but a place where one arrives. And arriving requires trust.

That is why we continue to verify profiles very rigorously. At the same time, we also see very clearly in daily operations how significant the problem with fake profiles actually is. Of the over 900 registrations, only 270 profiles have been approved after verification. The large remainder are scam attempts or profiles for which we deliberately do not grant approval.

We want to say this openly, because transparency is part of who we are: we are currently being inundated with fake profiles and are working intensively to solve this problem sustainably. When someone purchases a membership and we have doubts about the authenticity of the profile, we ask the person to verify themselves with an identity document. We have already received more than ten forged images of identity documents in this process. So far, these have always been poorly made forgeries – and yet this is a clear sign of the energy with which attempts are being made to infiltrate platforms like DuoLivo.

When we are not certain whether a document is genuine or not, we additionally require the person in question to complete identity verification at Swiss Post. We would rather be overly careful once than careless once. Quality does not arise from speed. Quality arises from trust. And trust grows in small steps.

Social Media Is Gradually Gaining Momentum

A few weeks ago, we deliberately launched on social media. Not from pressure to be present everywhere, but because we had the impression that now was the right time. We are now noticing that this step is gradually gaining momentum.

We currently publish a new post every week and the number of followers is growing continuously. This pleases us greatly, because social media is not an end in itself for us. It should not be an additional noise channel, but a place where we share helpful content, address questions and make DuoLivo understandable outside the app as well.

Topics such as security, trust, profile design, chat behavior or first meetings concern many people. Social media gives us the opportunity to address these questions in an accessible way and at the same time make visible what DuoLivo stands for: calm, transparent and without games.

Version 1.8

On March 25, 2026, we released version 1.8 of the DuoLivo app. This version is strongly shaped by the feedback we have received in recent weeks. We were able to resolve many small problems that users reported to us. The chat was optimized and the user interface was made even more intuitive in several places.

We are particularly pleased about a new feature that should become interesting in the coming months: Activities.

With this new overview, users receive a summary of events in their area from categories such as culture, culinary experiences and learning. At the same time, there is now also the option to create an activity yourself, to which other members can respond. We deliberately envision small, simple encounters in everyday life. For example, someone looking for a person in Basel on a Saturday to play chess together, and actually finding someone this way.

For us, this feature fits very well with DuoLivo. Because not every encounter begins with a classic dating situation. Sometimes it begins with a shared interest, a conversation or a small activity. That is precisely why we are curious to see how this area develops in the coming months and how our community uses it.

Also newly added is the Support Chat. Members with an active membership can now write to us directly within the DuoLivo app. With this, we want to make help even faster and more directly accessible.

What is on your mind

Since launch, we have received around 120 support inquiries. The most frequent topics continue to correspond to what has occupied us in recent weeks: payment terms, login and general questions about using the platform.

We have now additionally addressed many of these questions on our website, particularly in our FAQ. We hope that recurring concerns can thereby be answered even more quickly and that getting started with DuoLivo becomes easier for many people.

We also experience very positively that our magazine series “Date Ideas Differently” is being very well received. This particularly pleases us because these articles fit exactly with what DuoLivo represents: encounters should not feel artificial, but should begin easily, respectfully and close to everyday life. The series therefore addresses specific ideas for first meetings in various Swiss cities. Currently these include: Basel, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, Geneva and Lucerne.

With this, we not only provide tips for a first meeting, but also show very practically how genuine encounters can arise in everyday life, without pressure, without rigid expectations and without a date having to feel like a job interview. We would like to continue expanding precisely such content in the Magazine in the future.

And yes: we continue to read everything very carefully. Not only praise, but especially indications of where something is still unclear or does not run quite smoothly in everyday use. It is precisely this feedback that helps us to make DuoLivo better step by step.

We also receive feedback through the app stores. There we see a mixed picture: there are very positive and encouraging reviews, which we are very pleased about, but also very critical feedback that sometimes makes it difficult to recognize what exactly led to the poor experience. This is not always easy for us, because we can only improve problems in a targeted way when we understand where they originated. All the more we appreciate specific feedback – and also when members who have had good experiences with DuoLivo take the time for an honest review.

Membership by Invoice

In recent weeks, we have also implemented payment by invoice. We can currently only offer this option in the web version, because it conflicts with the guidelines of Apple and Google in the app stores. This expansion was nevertheless important to us, because we know that many people prefer to pay traditionally or deliberately do not want to provide credit card details.

The new option is being actively used, which shows us that there is a genuine need here. At the same time, we also see the downside: unfortunately, we have already had to observe that individual users do not settle their invoice despite payment reminders.

Nevertheless, we are convinced that payment by invoice was the right step. Because credibility is shown not only in communication, but also in taking different life realities seriously and offering suitable options.

A look ahead

Four months is still a short time. A platform like DuoLivo is not completed in a few weeks. Trust does not develop overnight. But what we see in these first months gives us encouragement.

DuoLivo is growing slowly, but healthily. The people who come to us are serious. At the same time, daily operations also show us very clearly where the challenges lie, particularly regarding fake profiles. That is precisely where we will continue to invest rigorously in the coming months: in security, in clear processes and in a platform that feels good and right for genuine people.

We look forward to seeing how the new features develop, how activities are received and what encounters emerge from them. Perhaps something beautiful will in future begin not only with a message, but also with a shared activity.

At the same time, we are already planning a first offline event in Basel. We are very pleased about this idea, because DuoLivo should not only take place digitally. Encounters also thrive on people being able to get to know each other in a good setting in a very uncomplicated way. As soon as the details are finalized, we will announce more. We would be very pleased if as many members and interested parties as possible attend.
